A core part of my life here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is my empathetic, wildly creative bestie Emily—who I affectionately call Carranza. We’ve wandered through thrifty beach adventures and stood by each other through tears and heartbreak. She’s currently in testing to donate her kidney so my boyfriend can receive one through the swap program. Her long-haired companion George continues to age with quiet grace, just like her love and strength.
